If we really cared about the Universe

(Nature)

We’d be happy to see

Our demise

This sounds very cynical but

I LOVE MOTHER NATURE!

It had crossed my radar

But it hadn’t really sunk in

I made the remark to myself

That refugees are usually black or brown

We aren’t used to white people

Being refugees

White people with lots and lots of

Beautiful white children

(the pandemic was fruitful)

Welcomed with open arms

As opposed to often sick and starving

Black and brown children

Not welcome

On those same white shores

 

Frickle freckle smackle

I said out loud

Mark said “What?”

I said

I just couldn’t think of anything to say

That would do justice to what was going on

With the war

 

Around 10 pm

We’ve been tuning in to ROKU

To get a comic antidote

To the CNN and MSNBC

Relentless reporting

 

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Trevor Noah!

I have to hand it to them

They are talking a tightrope

Of truth

And making us laugh

Laughter IS the best medicine

 

Of course

It doesn’t stop the slaughter

Even Russian soldiers are dispensable fodder
