I couldn’t sleep

That often happens if I have to

Get up early

With someplace to go

In this case

It was church

We had to get up at 7

To leave by 7:30

We needed to be there at

8:00 a.m. because

We had to practice the music

We were going to sing

Starting in the narthex(!)

And then processing down the aisle

To the chancery (?)

Is that what they call it?

We are the chancel choir

As opposed to the chamber choir

Which is the best singers

Including Mark

Mark was the liturgist

Which was exciting

Since it was his first time

He did wonderfully well

Got lots of compliments

On his reading

He really has a remarkable voice

Singing or reading

So we came down the aisle

At 9 am

With our hymnals

And sheet music

And a large green frond

Shaped like a feather

And took our places

In front of the congregation

Singing when necessary

During the service

Including the sermon

With the visiting Pastor

Who was very pleasant

Then we had a half hour to go outside

And take off our mask

I had a thermos of coffee in the car

But I unfortunately chose not to

Partake

I should have

Because I had a heck of a time

Staying awake during the second service

I might have dozed off

I had a very hard time staying still

I hope it doesn’t show

On the streaming of the 10:30 service

However I did miss the first few words

Of the Anthem after the 10:30 sermon

A repeat of the 9 am sermon

I opened my mouth to sing

But nothing came out

I recovered in a measure or two

But it was disheartening

I need to listen to YouTube

To see if I could tell

By listening

To the Anthem

We drove home

And I slept a lot

The rest of the day

And the next

I should mention:

Normally we wake up/get up

Between 10 am and noon

We stay up late!!

That's what it means to be retired!!!
