GARBAGE DAY

Nothing to say today

Thought we were going to spend the day

With the election

But not happening

Not on any TV station

And NO SHORT BYTE TODAY

EVENTS TOOK US OVER

AND UNDER

 

My God, what a horrible nightmare

Another grammar school shooting

Second through fourth grade

18 children massacred

By an 18-year-old

Assassin

With an assault weapon

Plus two teachers

Who sacrificed themselves

To stop the assassin

Who was himself assassinated

By the police

Not soon enough

Oh my god

All those mothers

All those fathers

All those brothers

And sisters

And grandparents

And cousins

Another child

Lost

For what?

 

We’re waiting for solutions

We’re waiting while the mothers

Cry

For their child

As they wait

To be identified

As the mother

Or father

Or sister or brother

Of a particular

Dead child

Who cannot

Identify itself

Who is no longer

Living

In this world

 

And all day long

we were waiting

for the election results

from Georgia

or Texas

or anywhere

but we never saw

any results

at all

and what would that matter

anyway

 

I was happy to see

On TV

There were a lot of people

Whose voices must be heard

Newscasters

Sportscasters

Crying

Begging

For something to happen

Asking questions

Over and over

WHY ARE WE LETTING THESE MASSACRES

IN SCHOOLS CONTINUE? 

HOW MANY MORE CHILDREN

WILL HAVE TO DIE?

WE MUST MAKE IT STOP!!
